NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — Diandre Wilson sank three 3-pointers and scored 20 points and his go-ahead layup with 26 seconds left helped lift NJIT past Brown 63-60 on Sunday for its first 3-0 start since become a Division-I school in 2006.
Mohamed Bendary added 10 points for the Highlanders, who last were 3-0 in 1996-97 — their last year as a D-III school. Brown Bears (0-1) at NJIT Highlanders (2-0). NJIT knocked down half of its 50 shots from the floor but connected on only 5 of 19 from 3-point range.
Tamenang Choh topped the Bears (0-2) with 17 points. Brown made 21 of 56 shots from the floor (37.5 percent) and only 5 of 23 from distance (22 percent). Desmond Cambridge, last season's Ivy League rookie of the year, hit just 2 of 10 shots, missed all three of his tries from beyond the arc and scored nine.
