Will Xavier's Edmond Sumner play against DePaul?

Xavier has played almost three full games without its starting point guard and it sounds like Edmond Sumner is set to miss Tuesday's meeting with DePaul.

Xavier head coach Chris Mack updated the condition of his redshirt point guard on Monday afternoon, according to Shannon Russell of the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Sumner has been out since New Year's Day when he was carted off the court following a collision with Villanova's Kris Jenkins less than three minutes in. The Musketeers went in an immediate drought after Sumner's hard fall, and the Wildcats pounced, rolling to a 95-64 win.

Xavier has bounced back with consecutive wins over Butler and St. John's. But since Sumner has been out, turnovers have gone up for the Musketeers. While Xavier is one of the deepest teams in the nation, the point guard spot is the one exception. With Sumner out, junior guard Myles Davis has taken on the role as point guard, with Larry Austin still playing in a reserve role.

The 6-foot-6 Sumner is second on the team in scoring at 11.0 points per game.

The Musketeers host the Blue Demons, losers of four straight to open conference play, on Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. EST on FS1.
