'Who throws a shoe? Honestly?' Turns out a Georgetown basketball player does
Austin Powers once famously asked: "Who throws a shoe?" And now, 16 years later, we finally have an answer.
Shayla Cooper throws a shoe.
The video below comes from the Georgetown women’s basketball team's 82-78 win over Richmond on Friday, and No. 32 is Cooper, a freshman forward on the Hoyas.
With 16:46 left in the second half and Georgetown leading 46-34, Richmond’s Olivia Healy spotted up for 3 from the wing and Cooper, who had lost her shoe earlier in the play, decided to use it on defense.
Remarkably, none of the officials seemed to notice Cooper's toss, and she was not hit with a technical foul for what would generally be called unsportsmanlike conduct.
Cooper was subbed out with three other teammates after a foul 15 seconds later, and the Norcross, Ga., native would go on to finish her collegiate debut with an impressive 17 points, seven rebounds, five assists and two blocks in 34 minutes.
Still, despite her big game, it really does beg the following question:
