Virginia meets Fla St. in ACC semis

BOTTOM LINE: Virginia is ready to face Florida State with the winner punching its ticket the ACC championship game. The only meeting between the teams this season came on Jan. 5, when the Cavaliers shot 40.4 percent from the field while holding Florida State to just 34.1 percent en route to a 65-52 victory.

TEAM LEADERSHIP: Mfiondu Kabengele and Terance Mann have led the Seminoles. Kabengele is averaging 12.9 points and 5.8 rebounds while Mann is putting up 11.4 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. The Cavaliers have been led by juniors De'Andre Hunter and Kyle Guy, who are averaging 15.2 and 15.8 points, respectively.

KEY CONTRIBUTOR: Ty Jerome has been directly responsible for 58 percent of all Virginia field goals over the last three games. The junior guard has 14 field goals and 30 assists in those games.

UNDEFEATED WHEN: Virginia is a perfect 27-0 when its defense holds opponents to a field goal percentage of 43.8 percent or less. The Cavaliers are 2-2 when they allow opponents to shoot any better than that.

ACCOUNTING FOR ASSISTS: The Cavs have recently used assists to create buckets more often than the Seminoles. Virginia has 52 assists on 76 field goals (68.4 percent) over its past three games while Florida State has assists on 37 of 68 field goals (54.4 percent) during its past three games.

TOUGH DEFENSE: Virginia has held opposing teams to 54.6 points per game this season, the lowest figure among all Division I teams.
