Utah, Krystkowiak agree on extension through 2022-23 season

SALT LAKE CITY -- Utah coach Larry Krystkowiak has received a contract extension through the 2022-23 season.

The extension announced Wednesday calls for the fourth-year coach to make $2.4 million per year.

The Utes advanced to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA tournament for the first time since the 2004-05 season before losing to eventual champion Duke. The team finished 26-9 and spent 19 weeks ranked in the Top 25, the most since the 1997-98 season.

The Utes won just six games during the 50-year-old Krystkowiak's first season.

Utah athletic director Chris Hill said in a statement, ''It is clear that his success has been noted throughout the country and we are pleased to be able to solidify his commitment to our program.''
