UNCW beats Northeastern to set school record for wins (Feb 25, 2017)

WILMINGTON, N.C. (AP) C.J. Bryce scored 23 points and UNC-Wilmington closed out its season with its fourth straight win, 74-65 over Northeastern on Saturday.

UNC-Wilmington (26-5, 15-3), which had already sealed the no. 1 seed in the upcoming Colonial Athletic Association tournament, reached several milestones: First, the Seahawks clinched the outright conference title over Charleston. Second, the 26 wins are the most in UNCW history and its 13 home wins are likewise a school record.

Chris Flemmings scored 19 points and Denzel Ingram added 13 for the Seahawks.

T.J. Williams scored 24 to lead Northeastern (15-15, 8-10), which finished sixth in the conference standings, earning a first-round bye.

Ingram drilled a 3-pointer 34 seconds into the game and UNC-Wilmington opened on a 15-0 run. The Seahawks led 40-17 at the break, and although the Huskies got to within seven in the second half, they were never seriously threatened.
