UNCG beats ETSU 74-56, snaps nation's longest win streak (Feb 12, 2018)

GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) Francis Alonso had 20 points and Demetrius Troy scored 17 to help UNC Greensboro beat East Tennessee State 74-56 on Monday night to pull within one game of the Buccaneers in the Southern Conference standings.

Troy was 6-of-8 shooting, hitting all four of his 3-point shots. Marvin Smith added 13 points and James Dickey had eight points, seven rebounds and a program single-game record eight of UNCG's program-best 14 blocks. The Spartans (20-6, 11-2) won their fourth in a row and snapped ETSU's win streak at 16 games.

Alonso hit a 3-pointer as UNCG scored 11 of the first 16 second-half points and Jordy Kuiper's 3-pointer capped a 9-0 run that pushed the Spartans' lead to 53-39 with 11 minutes to play. ETSU (22-5, 13-1) trailed by double figures the rest of the way.

Desonta Bradford led the Bucs with 21 points. ETSU set season lows for field goals (20), field-goal percentage (30.3), assists (four) and total points - their fewest since an 86-51 loss at then-No. 11 Villanova on Nov. 20, 2015.
