UNC Basketball Recruiting: P.J. Washington trims list to three

Class of 2017 recruit P.J. Washington is down to three

The race to land class of 2017 five star recruit P.J. Washington is starting to heat up.

Washington has officially cut his list down to three schools after canceling his visit to Arizona that was scheduled for this weekend. The power forward replaced Arizona with UNLV in his final list that was released earlier on Thursday.

The five-star forward is a prized recruit in the 2017 class and is considering UNC and Kentucky along with UNLV.  Washington will visit UNLV on Nov. 4.

He recently visited both schools and wrote about it in USA Today High School blog in which he called both visits a “10 out of 10”.

The next weekend I went to North Carolina and that was a lot of fun too.

I spent a lot of time with Coach Roy and I hung out with the team a lot. Theo Pinson was my host and he had me laughing the whole time, just cracking jokes and stuff.

I think the biggest thing I’d say about that visit was how much of a family atmosphere it felt like down there. You could tell that everyone was really close; all the players that played there in the past come back. I definitely liked that.

Coach Roy told me he’d put the ball in my hands and allow me to make plays. That was big.

I’d have to give that visit a 10 too.

He most recently visited Kentucky for their “Big Blue Madness” event and many have the Wildcats as the favorites to land him.

The 6-foot-7, 225-pound forward is as talented as any big man in the 2017 class. He’s ranked as the 15th-best overall recruit according to 247 Sports.

Landing Washington would be HUGE for UNC’s 2017 class that features four recruits in Jalek Felton, Brandon Huffman, Andrew Platek and Sterling Manley.
