UMKC 63, S. Dakota St. 58

Spencer Johnson tied the school record for career rebounds Thursday night as UMKC rallied for a 63-58 victory over South Dakota State and a split in their season series.

The senior forward had 14 rebounds, giving him 639 to equal the career mark of Darecko Rawlins (1992-96) at UMKC.

Johnson also had 15 points in the victory as the Kangaroos (13-8, 6-4 Summit) rallied from a 10-point deficit in the second half. Bakari Lewis added 17 points for UMKC, which won for the fifth time in its last six games.

Nate Wolters led South Dakota State (13-8, 5-5) with 19 points and eight assists. Jordan Dykstra added 11 points and Dale Moss had 12 rebounds.

The Jackrabbits, who defeated UMKC 91-71 earlier this season, entered the game ranked second nationally in 3-point field goal percentage (.427) but hit only 6 of 24 against UMKC. Overall, SDSU shot just 35 percent from the field.
