Todd Stansbury returns to Georgia Tech as athletic director
ATLANTA (AP) Georgia Tech has appointed Todd Stansbury as its new athletic director.
A Yellow Jackets player in the early 1980s and graduate of the school, Stansbury returns to his alma mater after serving as just over a year as Oregon State's athletic director. He also was an AD at Central Florida and East Tennessee State.
Stansbury takes over an athletic program that has a new men's basketball coach, Josh Pastner, and went 3-9 in football last season. He faces a challenging budget situation and the challenge of increasing attendance in the challenging Atlanta market.
Stansbury replaces Mike Bobinski, who left last month to become Purdue's AD.
Paul Griffin will continue to serve as interim athletic director until Stansbury takes over in late November or early December.
