Tennessee St. 74, Alabama A&amp,M 68

Robert Covington scored 20 points to lead a sharp-shooting Tennessee State team to a 74-68 victory over Alabama A&M on Tuesday night.

The Tigers (3-6) led by as many as 15 with 11:16 remaining in the first half, but both teams entered the break tied at 36.

Tennessee State shot 56.5 percent in the opening half (13 of 23) and 28 of 50 for the game (56 percent), including 7 of 11 from 3-point range (63.6 percent).

Alabama A&M (3-3) never led despite shooting 50.9 percent from the floor (27 of 53) and outrebounding the Tigers 32-28.

The win snapped a five-game losing streak for Tennessee State, which lost by an average of 12.8 points per game over that stretch.

Wil Peters scored 14 and Kenny Moore and Patrick Miller added 13 apiece for the Tigers.

Cornelius Hester scored 15 points to lead the Bulldogs, while Casey Cantey and DeMarquelle Tabb added 10 each.
