Ten finalists named for Jerry West Award

On Tuesday, the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced the 10 finalists for the Jerry West Award, the annual honor given to the nation's top shooting guards.

The Hall of Fame announced the 10 candidates for the Bob Cousy Award the previous day.

Oklahoma senior Buddy Hield, who is averaging 26.2 points, 5.9 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game, while shooting 50 percent from the field and from 3-point range and connecting on 90 percent of his free throws, is currently the heavy favorite.

Malcolm Brogdon, Virginia

A.J. English, Iona

Josh Hart, Villanova

Malcolm Hill, Illinois

Julian Jacobs, USC

Jalen Jones, Texas A&M

Caris LeVert, Michigan

Sheldon McCllean, Miami

Last year, Ohio State freshman D'Angelo Russell won the first-ever award.

This year's winner will be announced on April 8.
