Source: Duke's Irving won't play vs. Bradley
Duke star freshman Kyrie Irving will miss Wednesday’s game against Bradley with a toe injury.
A source close to the situation told FOXSports.com that the 6-foot-2 point guard, who suffered the injury in the second half of the Blue Devils’ win over Butler on Saturday, is currently in a walking boot and will undergo an MRI exam to make sure it’s not more serious than a sprained toe or turf toe.
Irving is averaging 17.4 points, 5.1 assists and 3.8 rebounds and has been the top freshman in the country as the defending champion Blue Devils have gotten off to an 8-0 start.
Irving injured his right toe late in the second half and returned to the game. He finished with 21 points in the win, including 17 in the second half.
Duke’s schedule lightens up with Bradley, St. Louis on Saturday and then a nine-day layoff before facing Elon on Dec. 20. All three games are at home.
