SMU Mustangs coach Larry Brown faces possible NCAA sanctions

For the third time in his coaching career, Larry Brown may be facing significant sanctions from the NCAA.

The SMU head coach is facing a 'lack of coach control' charge, according to Yahoo! Sports

SMU had a multi-day hearing with the NCAA Committee on Infractions in late June. The school's golf program was also involved in the hearing.

The apparent reason for the issue is an academic misconduct charge related to coursework of former guard Keith Frazier. Assistant coach Ulric Maligi allegedly assisted Frazier with his coursework.

Frazier played for the Mustangs during the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons before he was deemed "academically ineligible" in January 2015 and missed the rest of the season. There has been no clarification yet as to his status for the 2015-16 season, but Frazier has not left the program.
