SIU-Edwardsville 67, Hannibal-LaGrange 45

Mark Yelovich had 17 points and eight rebounds and Derian Shaffer added 14 points as SIU-Edwardsville defeated Hannibal-LaGrange 67-45 on Saturday night.

Jerome Jones scored 13 points for the Cougars (2-6). Shaffer had seven rebounds.

Arii Meuel had 12 points for Hannibal-LaGrange, a NAIA school in Hannibal, Mo., that classified the game as an exhibition. The Trojans' record remained 6-6.

Hannibal-LaGrange had its only lead, 18-17, with seven minutes left in the first half when SIU-Edwardsville took a 17-4 run into halftime. Jones had five points and Yelovich four during the surge.

Shaffer jumpstarted the Cougars in the second half by scoring their first six points, and the Trojans got no closer than 11 the rest of the way.
