Shaheen Holloway named coach at St. Peter's University
JERSEY CITY, N.J. (AP) Shaheen Holloway has been named the basketball coach at St. Peter's University.
Athletic director Bryan Felt announced the hiring of the Seton Hall assistant coach on Wednesday. Holloway replaces John Dunne, who left after 12 seasons to take the coaching job at Marist.
Holloway spent the past eight seasons at Seton Hall under Kevin Willard. The Pirates went the NCAA Tournament the past three seasons.
St. Peter's posted a 14-18 record last season, including a 6-12 mark in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.
''Coach Holloway's reputation as a recruiter and his ability to develop and mentor high quality student-athletes was a resounding factor in our decision,'' Felt said. ''He is a tremendous fit for our program with his metropolitan area connections and track record of success as a player and coach.''
Holloway played at Seton Hall from 1996-00 and helped lead his team to the Sweet 16 in 2000.
