SE Louisiana beats Centenary 99-67 behind Polanco (Nov 10, 2017)
HAMMOND, La. (AP) Eddy Polanco scored 18 points and made all 10 of his free throws, and Southeastern Louisiana scored its most points in a season opener in eight years in beating Division III Centenary 99-67 on Friday night.
The Lions equaled their points scored in a 99-50 win over the University of Science and Arts in the 2009-10 opener.
Marlain Veal scored 17 points, Jordan Capps had 14, Jabbar Singleton 12 and James Currington 10 for Southeastern Louisiana.
Centenary rallied with an 11-2 run to take its only lead of the game, 16-15, with 16:33 left in the first half, before the Lions began to pull away to a 53-40 halftime lead behind Palanco's 16 points. D'Angelo West's 3-pointer sparked a 20-0 run that put the Lions up 82-51 with 6:10 to play.
Cedric Harris had 21 points, Travion Kirkendoll added 12 and Neil Hawkins 10 for the Gentlemen, who counted it as an exhibition game.
