Sacred Heart 50, New Hampshire 42

Jerrell Thompson scored 24 points to lead Sacred Heart over a cold-shooting New Hampshire team 50-42 on Tuesday night.

The Pioneers (1-4) led 36-19 at halftime thanks in large part to New Hampshire's inability to score. The Wildcats (3-1) shot 7 of 24 from the floor (29.2 percent), including 3 for 12 from 3-point range (25 percent) in the opening half.

Conversely, Sacred Heart converted 12 of its 29 shot attempts (41.4 percent) and headed into halftime with a comfortable lead.

The Pioneers' comfort level changed dramatically in the second half as they went 2 for 14 from the field (14.3 percent) and were outscored 23-14.

Fortunately for Sacred Heart, the Wildcats only shot 7 for 26 (26.9 percent) in the second half.

Ferg Myrick scored 10 points and was the only player in double figures for New Hampshire.

Stan Dulaire scored 11 points and grabbed 8 rebounds for the Pioneers.
