Reserves spark Harvard to 74-63 victory over BU (Dec 21, 2017)

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (AP) Weisner Perez totaled 12 points and seven rebounds and reserves Seth Towns and Justin Bassey combined to score 23 to lead Harvard past Boston University 74-63 on Thursday night.

Towns scored 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting with four rebounds and Bassey scored a season-high 11 with five rebounds for the Crimson (5-6). The Harvard reserves knocked down 16 of 28 shots (57 percent) from the floor on a night when the starters made just 10 baskets, with nine of those by Perez and Chris Egi.

Max Mahoney came off the bench to score 16 with five rebounds for the Terriers (4-7), while reserve Javante McCoy scored 15. Tyler Scanlon was the lone BU starter to top double figures with 11 points. The Terriers bench accounted for 35 points. BU has dropped three straight.

Harvard has now won eight in a row against the Terriers and leads the all-time series 38-28.

Perez scored the first eight points for Harvard and the Crimson jumped out to an 8-3 lead and never trailed. Scanlan's 3-pointer with five seconds left in the first half pulled the Terriers within 36-34, but Robbie Feinberg nailed a 3-pointer to open the second half and Harvard slowly pulled away.
