Report: LSU's Keith Hornsby could be out for the rest of the season

A disappointing season for LSU may have gotten worse after an injury report on Monday morning.

According to Jeff Goodman of ESPN, senior guard Keith Hornsby could miss the remainder of the year after he aggravated a hernia injury -- that sidelined him the first seven games of this season -- during Saturday's 81-65 loss to Tennessee.

The 6-foot-4 Hornsby is second to Ben Simmons on the team in scoring at 13.1 points per game. He is also the Tigers best 3-point shooter, connecting on 42 percent of his attempts from long distance this season.

In the latest Bracket Watch, posted on Friday, LSU was listed as one of the "Next Four Out." Saturday's outcome, a second straight loss for the Tigers, did not help its case for an at-large bid. Without Hornsby in the lineup to start the year, LSU limped out to a 4-3 record. The belief was that the addition of Hornsby and Craig Victor (a mid-season transfer) would help right the ship, and for a stretch it LSU was back in the NCAA Tournament picture. But the Tigers are currently on the outside looking in, and without Hornsby, they face an even steeper uphill battle.

LSU has four more games before the start of the SEC Tournament. Two of those games included against Florida and at Kentucky.
