Radford routs Central Pennsylvania 78-49

A huge rebounding edge helped Radford rout Central Pennsylvania 78-49 on Wednesday night.

The Highlanders (3-1) outrebounded Central Pennsylvania 57-38 and used two offensive rebounds to outscore the Knights on second-chance points 16-0. Also, Radford dominated close to the basket, scoring 34 points in the paint.

Javonte Green had a double-double to lead the Highlanders with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Brian Darden added 12 points and Jareal Smith had 10 for the Highlanders.

Central Pennsylvania scored the first four points of the second half to take a 31-30 lead, but Radford responded with a 25-6 run to put the game out of reach at 55-37 with 9:55 remaining in the game.

Radford's defense forced 25 turnovers and held the Knights (4-3) to 34 percent shooting (18 of 53), including 2 of 18 from 3-point range.

Andre Batte, the only Knights player in double figures, scored 15 points.
