Providence lists Ben Bentil as day-to-day

On Thursday afternoon, Providence College announced that sophomore forward Ben Bentil, the Big East scoring leader, was listed as day-to-day with a right ankle injury.

Bentil injured his ankle in the first half of No. 11 Providence's 77-70 upset loss to DePaul on Tuesday night in Chicago. Bentil played a season-low 14 minutes and scored six points.

The 6-foot-9 forward injured his left ankle earlier in the season against Boston College on Dec. 9. While he didn't miss a game because of it, he did not play in the second half against the Eagles, and did not come off the bench until late in the first half in Providence's next game three days later.

Bentil has been one of the nation's breakout stars, averaging 19.7 points and 7.8 rebounds per game.

The Friars are currently in a three-way tie with Seton Hall and Georgetown for third-place in the Big East standings, as they are set to host No. 3 Villanova on Saturday. The Wildcats are also looking to get their top big man. Daniel Ochefu has missed the past two games due to a concussion. His status for this weekend is uncertain.

Providence and Villanova are scheduled to tip at 2:30 p.m. on FS1.
