Pine Bluff erases 18-point deficit, beats Texas Southern (Feb 19, 2018)

PINE BLUFF, Ark. (AP) Martaveous McKnight and Terrance Banyard scored 16 points each and Arkansas-Pine Bluff overcame an 18-point deficit to beat Texas Southern 62-61 on Monday night.

Demontrae Jefferson's 3-pointer with 3:50 left in the first half gave Texas Southern a 35-17 lead. The Golden Lions (10-19, 10-5 Southwestern Athletic Conference) scored the next 10 points to close the deficit to eight by halftime and stayed close enough to take their first lead of the game on their final basket, Quamauri Hardy's layup that made it 62-60 with 37 seconds left.

Marquis Salmon split a pair of free throws for the Tigers (8-19, 8-6) with 26 seconds left. McKnight missed the front end of a 1-and-1 for the Lions with 12 seconds left and Donte Clark missed a 3-point attempt in the final seconds for Texas Southern.

Jefferson was 4 of 5 from 3-point range and had 25 points for the Tigers. Clark added 14 points.
