Pikeville advances to NAIA men's final

Quincy Hankins-Cole scored 28 points and grabbed 16 rebounds as Pikeville College reached the finals of the NAIA Division I men's tournament with a 110-99 victory against Martin Methodist on Monday.

The unseeded Bears (29-7) from Kentucky have recorded four consecutive upsets in the tournament and will face the winner of the Georgetown College-Mountain State semifinal.

Pikeville trailed by 15 points in the second half, but used an 18-0 run that was led by Hankins-Cole to reach its first title game.

The Bears scored 67 points in the second half with a relentless fast-break attack, outscoring Martin Methodist by 19 points over the final 20 minutes.

Trevor Setty added 20 points and 11 rebounds for the Bears.

Ree McCrory led Martin Methodist (34-3) with 27 points.

LaQuantis Stewart and Chris Leggett led Martin Methodist from Tennessee in rebounding with eight apiece.

The fifth-seeded RedHawks controlled play through most of the first half. But Pikeville chipped a 10-point deficit to 45-41 before two late 3-pointers by James Justice sparked Martin Methodist to a 51-43 halftime lead.

Martin Methodist came out strong to open the second half and took a 73-58 lead at the 15:10 mark on McCrory's pull-up 3 in transition. But from that point on, it was all Pikeville.
