Pacific hangs on to upset BYU 67-66 (Jan 06, 2018)
STOCKTON, Calif. (AP) Jahlil Tripp scored 22 points on 8-of-13 shooting and Pacific survived for a 67-66 win over BYU on Saturday night.
Tripp's jumper with 2:55 left gave the Tigers (7-10, 2-2 West Coast Conference) the lead for good at 62-61 and Pacific made 5 of 8 free throws from there to hold on.
Elijah Bryant hit a 3 to pull BYU within one with 15.3 seconds left and, after a pair of missed free throws by Tigers, the Cougars (13-4, 2-2) had a chance to go ahead on the final play. Jahshire Hardnett kept it himself for a drive to the basket but missed the layup.
