Northern Colorado rallies to beat Sacramento State 70-65

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — Jordan Davis scored 21 of his 28 points in the second half Saturday night to help Northern Colorado overcome a 10-point halftime deficit to beat Sacramento State 70-65 in the Big Sky Conference opener for both teams.

Bodie Hume had 15 of his 18 points after the break for the Bears (7-5, 1-0), who closed the final 2:30 of the game with a 12-2 run. Davis scored 10 points during that run, including a 3-pointer that gave Northern Colorado the lead for good at 66-65 with 46 seconds left.

The Bears trailed 37-27 at the break and closed the deficit to one with a 9-0 run early in the second half. The rest of the period was back-and-forth and the Hornets (6-4, 0-1) had a 9-0 run to lead 63-58 with 2:43 left. But while Davis made all three of Northern Colorado's field-goal attempts in the final three minutes, Sacramento State went 1 for 6 from the field over the same span.

Joshua Patton had 15 points and nine rebounds to lead the Hornets. Marcus Graves added 12 points, Osi Nwachukwu scored 11 and Bryce Fowler 10.
