Northeastern leads early, hangs on to beat Towson 69-62

BOSTON (AP) Scott Eatherton scored 15 points and grabbed four rebounds as Northeastern took an early lead and held it to beat Towson 69-62 on Wednesday night.

T.J. Williams finished with 15 points and seven assists for the Huskies (16-8, 8-3 Colonial Athletic Association). David Walker added 13. The team hit 71.4 percent from the field overall, nailing 6 of 7 from distance.

Northeastern jumped to a 21-10 lead midway through the first period and had a 39-26 advantage at the break.

In the second half, Williams sank a 3-pointer to extend the Huskies lead to 17, 55-38, with 11:49 to play. Bryon Hawkins tried to rally Towson over the next three minutes - sinking a 3-pointer and a jumper - but the Tigers (11-13, 4-7) were hampered by poor shooting (39.6 percent) and could not close the gap.

Hawkins led the Towson with 11 points.
