North Carolina hero Luke Maye got a standing ovation in his Monday class

Luke Maye hit the biggest shot of his life and in recent North Carolina history on Sunday, sending the Tar Heels to the Final Four on a last-second jumper at the end of a frantic, beautiful finish to the South Regional final against Kentucky.

Back in Chapel Hill for his class on Monday, Maye was deservedly the center of attention:

You will undoubtedly have jokes about a North Carolina player attending class in light of the ongoing academic fraud investigation at the school, but it's a fun moment for Maye, who grew up in the state and wanted to play for the Heels. On a team full of highly touted recruits, Maye was initially going to walk on to Roy Williams' program before a scholarship opened up for him late in his senior year.

The Tar Heels play Oregon in the second national semifinal on Saturday in Glendale, Ariz.
