New Orleans outlasts Central Arkansas 88-79
CONWAY, Ark. (AP) Cory Dixon scored 20 points and New Orleans pulled away from Central Arkansas for an 88-79 victory Saturday.
After a first half with nine ties and 12 lead changes, New Orleans (9-10, 6-5 Southland Conference) held a lead for most of the second half. But the Privateers could not extend the lead to more than seven points until Dixon hit a pair of free throws with 1:57 remaining for an 80-72 advantage.
Five straight points from LaQuentin Miles cut the lead to 82-77 with 58 seconds left before New Orleans made all six free throw attempts in the final 30 seconds.
Tevin Broyles and Christavious Gill scored 12 points each for New Orleans and Tradarrius McPhearson added 11 points. Kevin Hill had nine points and 11 rebounds.
Miles scored 28 points on 12-of-17 shooting to lead Central Arkansas (6-16, 3-8). Phabian Glasco added 12 points and five blocks.
