Nebraska's Shavon Shields expected to return vs. Penn State

Shavon Shields, Nebraska's top player, is expected to make his return on Thursday night against Penn State after missing the previous four games.

Shield had a scary fall a in the second half of an 87-63 win over Rutgers on Feb. 6. The 6-foot-7 forward suffered a concussion after he bit on a D.J. Foreman pump fake, flipping over the Rutgers forward and landing hard on his back.

Nebraska head coach Tim Miles updated Shields' condition on Wednesday afternoon, according to Brian Rosenthal of the Lincoln Journal Star.

“I would expect he’ll play; I don’t know how much,” Nebraska coach Tim Miles said after Wednesday’s practice. “I think he expects to be Shavon, and I just want him to be the best he can be right now.”

Shields is second on the team in scoring at 15.7 points per game and leads the Cornhuskers in minutes played (30.4) and assists (2.9).

Nebraska defeated Penn State 70-54 without Shields in the schools' first meeting of the season two weeks ago.
