NC Central pulls away from Allen in second half, wins 78-54

DURHAM, N.C. (AP) Jeremiah Ingram scored 15 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, Jay Copeland added 15 more points with 11 boards, and North Carolina Central beat Allen University, 78-54, on Monday night.

Nate Allen also had 15 points for NC Central (1-1), and Dajuan Graf added 10 and four assists.

Neither team shot the ball well, as both finished below the 40 percent plateau. But the Eagles won the rebounding battled 57-37, including 22-5 on the offensive end, had eight more assists as a team (20-12), and forced 20 Allen turnovers defensively.

NC Central closed the first half on a 7-0 run and led 33-26 at the break. The run continued into the second period, as Ingram had a 3-point play followed by a Graf jumper on the ensuing possession to give the Eagles a double digit lead.

Dj Marshall had 11 points and eight rebounds to lead Allen.
