Murphy leads Air Force over Johnson & Wales (CO) 99-42
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — Freshman Carter Murphy came off the bench to score 14 points, hitting all four of his 3-point tries, and Air Force flew past Division III-member Johnson & Wales (CO) 99-42 on Tuesday night.
All 15 Falcons scored and Murphy’s points were his first of the season. Chris Joyce had 12 points, Caleb Morris scored 11 and Isaac Monson and Mason Taylor tossed in 10 apiece for Air Force (6-6).
Andray Thomas sank four 3-pointers and scored 14 to lead the Wildcats.
Air Force shot 63 percent from the floor, hit 9 of 14 from beyond the arc (64%) and made 26 of 30 free throws. Johnson & Wales shot just 26% from the floor, 28% from distance and made just 2 of 8 free throws. The Falcons also dominated the boards 43-23.
