Michigan's NCAA Tournament push won't include leading scorer Caris LeVert

The Michigan Wolverines will be without guard Caris LeVert for the remainder of the season, head coach John Beilein announced Tuesday.

LeVert, a senior co-captain, has been battling a lower left leg injury since late December and has played just once since Dec. 30. The injury ends his collegiate career.

In 15 games this season, LeVert averaged 16.5 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.9 assists. He leads the team in points per game and assists per game, and is second in rebounds per game.

In his four years with the Wolverines, he has averaged 10.4 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.7 assists. He finishes with 1,070 career points in 103 games with Michigan.

Caris LeVert's Michigan career inlcuded a trip to the Final Four as a freshman.

The Wolverines are 20-10 overall and 10-7 in the Big Ten this season. In December, the Wolverines also lost co-captain Spike Albrecht, who chose to end his season and focus on rehabbing following double hip surgery.

Both LeVert and Albrecht will be honored before the Wolverines host the 16th-ranked Iowa Hawkeyes on Saturday.
