Michigan State Recruiting: Brandon McCoy to make decision in spring

Michigan State recruiting could get some good news from five-star center Brandon McCoy when he announces in the spring.

If there’s one guy who the Michigan State recruiting class could use instantly in 2017, it’s five-star center Brandon McCoy from San Diego. The big man has narrowed his list down to five schools, Michigan State being one of them, and recently took an official to East Lansing.

It’s hard to tell where his mind is at this point in his recruitment and no one really knew when he was planning on deciding, but he revealed his timeline this week. Fortunately, he’s not deciding right after visiting another school, but unfortunately, we will have to wait a bit longer.

According to Corey Evans of Hoop Seen, McCoy isn’t worried about making his decision any time soon, he’s just focused on his senior season:

On Friday evening, assistant coaches from UNLV, Oregon, USC and San Diego State were spotted throughout the gym as McCoy addressed the elephant in the room. “Right now, I’m just focusing on my game and my team,” the San Diego transplant said. “I will probably make my decision in the spring after my basketball season finishes up.”

McCoy is ranked the No. 8 overall prospect in 2017, according to the 247Sports composite, and he would be a welcomed addition to a class already with two big men.

Other favorites to land him are Oregon and Arizona who have seemed to be the main competition while San Diego State and UNLV are likely the last options.
