Michigan State beats Louisville, punches Final Four ticket
By Andrew Holleran
Michigan State, a team that was 13-7 and 4-3 in the Big Ten in late January, has reached the Final Four.
The No. 7-seeded Spartans defeated No. 4 seed Louisville in overtime in the Elite Eight at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse Sunday afternoon, 76-70. The win sends Tom Izzo to the national semifinals for the seventh time in his career in East Lansing.
Following the win, Michigan State guards Travis Trice and Denzel Valentine were overcome with emotion. You can see some photos here.
Scenes like that are why we love the NCAA tournament so much. Michigan State will face the winner of the Duke-Gonzaga game in Indianapolis next Saturday.
