Massachusetts 67, TCU 48

Anthony Gurley led a balanced scoring attack with 14 points and Massachusetts proved too fast for TCU in 67-48 victory Monday night in the Basketball Hall of Fame Tipoff tournament.

The Minutemen, 4-0 for the first time since 2001-02, employed a pressing defense and an up-tempo offense to control the game. They forced the Horned Frogs into 17 turnovers and put them in a huge hole.

TCU led 14-12 midway through the first half when the Minutemen took over with a 19-2 run. Javorn Farrell scored 12, half of them coming during the spurt that gave Massachusetts a 31-16 lead. The Minutemen led 35-21 at halftime, and it only got worse for TCU.

A 12-0 run early in the second half put Massachusetts ahead 49-23 and little more than two minutes later Freddie Riley's slam dunk gave the Minutemen a 56-27 advantage, their largest of the game.

Ronnie Moss led TCU with 10 points.
