Maryland's Melo Trimble named Big Ten Preseason Player of the Year
Maryland sophomore guard Melo Trimble, the best player on arguably the nation's top team, was named Big Ten Preseason Player of Year, as voted by conference media.
Trimble, the Big Ten's top returning scorer, averaged a team-high 16.3 points and 3.1 assists per game , leading the Terrapins to a second-place finish in the conference in 2014-15. He was one of four unanimous preseason first team selections. Michigan State senior Denzel Valentine, Wisconsin forward Nigel Hayes and Purdue's A.J. Hammons were all consensus picks by the conference media.
