Martelli gets multiyear extension from Saint Joseph's
PHILADELPHIA -- Saint Joseph's and coach Phil Martelli have agreed to terms on a multiyear contract extension.
The Hawks did not say Thursday how many years were added to Martelli's contract.
Martelli is 375-265 since he took over at Hawk Hill in 1996. He also spent 10 seasons as an assistant coach at Saint Joseph's.
He has led the Hawks to 20 or more victories eight times, including a school record 30 wins in 2003-04, when he was the AP national coach of the year. Martelli also owns a 185-137 record in the Atlantic 10, the most conference wins for any active coach, and he has been voted the A-10 Coach of the Year on four occasions.
Martelli has six NCAA tournament and 11 NIT appearances.
