Marshall delivers, Butler beats Seton Hall, 64-57

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) Khyle Marshall drove to the basket and banked in a left-handed shot with 1:06 left, boosting Butler to its first Big East road victory, 64-57, over Seton Hall Wednesday night.

Butler (12-9, 2-7 Big East) now stands 26-8 over its last 34 games when Marshall scores in double digits. The 6-6 forward scored 13 points for Butler, which received 12 points from Elijah Brown and 11 apiece from Kameron Woods and Andrew Chrabascz.

Marshall's drive to the basket gave the Bulldogs a 59-57 lead and Woods and Alex Barlow each sank two free throws to help seal it.

Fuquan Edwin finished with a game-high 20 points for Seton Hall (12-9, 3-5), which got 13 points from Eugene Teague and 10 points, 10 boards and five blocks from Brandon Mobley.

After Brandon Mobley scored two straight baskets inside to give Seton Hall a 52-50 edge, the Pirates had a chance to put some distance between them and Butler. But Edwin made two steals and missed both layups.

A few minutes later, Sterling Gibbs nailed a 3-pointer off a pass from Edwin to make it 55-51 for Seton Hall before Kellen Dunham answered with a 3-pointer for Butler, slicing it to 55-54 with 4:10 showing.

Dunham then connected for another 3-pointer from nearly the same spot to make it 57-55 for Butler with 2:27. Gibbs came back with a fast-break layup to tie it at 57-57 with 1:28 left.

Seton Hall used a 13-2 run to gain the lead in the second half. Teague completed a three-point play to spark the burst. Kameron Woods hit a jumper for Butler before the Pirates got consecutive 3-pointers from Brian Oliver and Edwin. Teague muscled his way inside for two points and Edwin weaved his way to the rim to cap the surge, staking Seton Hall to a 46-40 advantage.

Khyle Marshall and Elijah Brown drove for back-to-back dunks, in a 6-0 spurt that made it 46-46 for Butler.

Seven players scored for Butler in the first half when the Bulldogs took a 34-33 edge into the break. Chrabascz led the Bulldogs with nine points. Edwin hit three 3-pointers in leading Seton Hall with 15 points over the first 20 minutes.
