Johnny Thomas scored 16 points off the bench to lead six players in double figures for Marshall in a 93-48 rout of Glenville State on Monday night.
Thomas was 8 of 10 from the field, DeAndre Kane 7 of 11 and Tirrell Baines 5 of 6 for the hot-shooting Thundering Herd (2-0). Marshall shot 69 percent from the field (40 of 58), including 72 percent in the second half (18 of 25).
Marshall scored 60 points in the paint and 27 off 23 Pioneers' turnovers. It was the lowest score by an opponent since Marshall's 66-47 win over Rice on Jan. 9, 2008.
Kane finished with 14 points, Baines 13, Shaquille Johnson 11 and Johnny Higgins and Dago Pena added 10 each for the Thundering Herd.
Marshall led 23-13 and scored 14 straight over the next 4:43 to lead by 24 on Baines' jumper with 5:49 left until halftime.
Nick Dent paced the Pioneers (0-2) with 15 points.
