Loyola (Md) holds off Bucknell 78-77 (Feb 15, 2017)
BALTIMORE (AP) Jarred Jones grabbed 12 rebounds and scored 23 points, including a go-ahead floater with 45 seconds left, and Loyola (Md.) held off Bucknell 78-77 on Wednesday night to end a two-game skid.
Trailing by nine at halftime and by as many as 15 in the second half, Bucknell rallied to a 60-59 lead after Nana Foulland's dunk capped a 9-0 run. The Greyhounds tied it at 62 on a 3 by Andre Walker, but Zach Thomas' 3-pointer put Bucknell up 69-67 with 4:37 to go. Jones made consecutive layups and Loyola led 71-69 with 2:09 left.
Foulland tied it at 71 before fouling out and the lead changed hands before Jones' acrobatic floater gave Loyola a 75-74 edge with 45 seconds to go. Bucknell's Stephen Brown missed a 3 and his layup was blocked before Loyola's Chuck Champion made two free throws and Cam Gregory added a third. Brown hit a 40-foot 3 at the buzzer.
Walker scored 18 points with four 3-pointers and James Fives scored 16 points for the Greyhounds (14-12, 8-7 Patriot), who outscored the Bison 42-30 in the paint and outrebounded them 36-25.
Foulland scored 17 points Thomas had 13 for Bucknell (20-8, 12-3).
