Louisville Basketball: Terry Rozier looked solid in Celtics' loss to Bulls

Former Louisville Basketball star Terry Rozier found his groove in the Boston Celtics’ loss to the Chicago Bulls on Thursday night.

Recap:

The Boston Celtics and former Louisville Basketball player opened up their 2016-2017 schedule with a win against the Brooklyn Nets just last night. The Celtics were able to pull away from the Nets, but not before a furious comeback attempt from Brooklyn.

Terry Rozier had a solid game, but didn’t quite live up to the production that we saw from him in the preseason. However, preseason play and regular season play are two different ball-games.

With that being said, he still showed why the Celtics can trust him with being the back-up point guard throughout this year.

Final Score and Stat Line:

1 2 3 4 T
Celtics 20 29 24 26 99
Bulls 30 27 22 26 105

Terry Rozier: 23 minutes, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals, and 8 points

Discussion:

This was a brutally close loss for the Celtics on Thursday night in Chicago. The game went back and forth all night, but the Bulls were able to make the shots when it counted late. Boston now moves to 1-1 on the young 2016-2017 season.

It was a shame that the Celtics weren’t able to win because Rozier had his best game of this season. He played five fewer minutes than he did last night, but was more productive than he was yesterday. This is definitely the type of performance that we have grown accustomed to seeing from Rozier since the 2016 NBA Summer League.

I would have liked to see head coach Brad Stevens put Rozier in the game at the end, but it was apparent that the match-ups didn’t favor putting him in. Ultimately the Celtics lost, but it wasn’t because of Terry Rozier.

Boston will now head to play the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday, which presents a more friendly match-up than the Bulls.
