Louisville Basketball: Gorgui Dieng sets season-high's in win against Grizzlies

Former Louisville basketball star Gorgui Dieng went off against the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday night.

Recap:

The Minnesota Timberwolves and former Louisville basketball player Gorgui Dieng were off to an 0-2 start before Tuesday night’s game against the Memphis Grizzlies. However, it hasn’t been Dieng’s fault that the T’Wolves hadn’t won a game, as he has gone for a double-double in each of the team’s first two games.

Minnesota returned home to play the Grizzlies for the second time in three games on Tuesday night and Gorgui Dieng went off again.

Final Score and Stat Line:

Gorgui Dieng: 34 minutes, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals, 2 blocks, and 17 points

Reaction:

Dieng is off to one heck of a start to the 2016-2017 season for the Minnesota Timberwolves. As if two straight games of getting a double-double wasn’t impressive enough, he had a season-high in points and steals against the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday night.

The Timberwolves finally got their first win of the year against a team they lost to in the season opener. It was a much different game this time around, as Minnesota stayed hot shooting the basketball throughout the evening. As you can see from the box score above, this wasn’t much of a contest.

It has been extremely impressive to see Dieng putting up these kind of numbers, mostly because he is far above his career averages in each category through three games.

He is currently averaging 13 points per game, 13.5 rebounds per game, and 1.5 blocks per game. Whereas his career averages are at 8.5 points per game, 7 rebounds per game, and 1.3 blocks per game.

It looks as though Dieng’s hard work is paying off for him in the early parts of the 2016-2017 season.
