Long Island U. 94, Bryant 85
Michael Culpo scored a career-high 22 points and Julian Boyd added 20 points to lead Long Island University to a 94-85 victory over Bryant on Thursday night.
Bryant freshman Alex Francis scored a career-high 43 points, the third-highest total in school history and highest since the Bulldogs moved to Division I, but it wasn't enough to keep the Blackbirds (23-5, 15-2 Northeast Conference) from extending their winning streak to nine games.
Francis' layup gave Bryant (9-20, 7-10) a 27-26 lead with 6:33 left in the first half, but Long Island responded with a 10-0 run, capped by Jamal Olasewere's two free throws with 3:08 to play.
David Hicks added 19 points, Olasewere scored 13 and Jason Brickman finished with a career-high 11 assists for the Blackbirds.
Francis was 20 of 27 from the floor and had nine rebounds. Frankie Dobbs added 12 points for Bryant.
