Leonard Hamilton gets 2-year extension at Florida State
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) Florida State University has announced that men's basketball coach Leonard Hamilton's contract has been extended until the end of the 2018-19 season.
Hamilton is in his 14th season at the school and is the winningest coach in school history with a 252-184 record. He had one year remaining on the extension he signed in 2013.
Athletic Director Stan Wilcox and University President John Thrasher said in statements Wednesday that the extension allows Hamilton to be able to effectively recruit against other Atlantic Coast Conference programs. Hamilton's two recent classes, including the incoming one for next season, have been ranked in the Top 10 by recruiting services.
The Seminoles (16-11, 6-9 ACC) have lost four straight going into Thursday's game against Duke and haven't made the NCAA Tournament since 2012.
