Lammers, Yellow Jackets Look to Extend Winning Streak Against UGA

The Yellow Jackets will look to revenge last year’s loss to the Georgia Bulldogs as well as extend their winning streak to three games on Tuesday night. The Bulldogs are looking to continue a strong start and hoping to ride a wave of momentum in their SEC conference schedule that begins on the 29th. Their three losses this season have come against strong teams in Clemson (8-2), #3 Kansas (10-1), and Marquette (8-3). In their seven wins, the Bulldogs are averaging a winning margin of 13-points.

While the Yellow Jackets will have to keep J.J Frazier shutdown on Tuesday night, junior forward Yante Maten is the player to watch for tonight for Georgia. The Pontiac, Michigan native is coming off a great shooting night, his best of the season as he scored 30-points while shooting 84% from the floor including 2-for-3 from three-point range.
Overall, Maten is averaging 21.5 points on the season to go along with averages of 8.7 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game. The 6-foot-8, 240-pound forward is also nearly averaging 2.0 blocks per game.
While Ben Lammers is the star of this Georgia Tech squad, Quinton Stephens is one of the unsung heroes of the Yellow Jackets. Stephens has averaged 11.7 points per game this to go along with 7.7 rebounds per game. So far this season, Stephens has put up double-digits in points eight times and has three double-doubles.
In the Yellow Jackets 74-50 win on Sunday, Stephens put up 11 points to go along with eight rebounds and three assists. He also was great on the defensive side of the ball with one block and three steals.
Prediction:
After a back-and-forth first half that sees Georgia take a small lead heading into halftime, the Yellow Jackets use a strong second half lead by Ben Lammers and Quinton Stephens to pull out a close 79-71 victory over the Bulldogs on Tuesday night.
