Kent St. 78, W. Michigan 73

Chris Evans scored nine of his 18 points in overtime, and Kent State defeated Western Michigan 78-73 on Saturday night in a Mid-American Conference game.

The game was tied 11 times, including 64-64 at the end of regulation, and there were six lead changes.

But the Golden Flashes (16-6, 6-3) led the overtime from start to finish. Evans scored the first six points in the extra period as part of an 8-0 Kent State run. The Broncos cut the deficit to 76-73 on a Demetrius Ward 3-pointer with 15 seconds to go, but Evans sealed the win with two free throws with 2 seconds left.

Justin Greene scored 19 points, Carlton Guyton added 14 and Randal Holt had 13 for the Golden Flashes, who won their fourth consecutive game.

Ward had 21 points and 10 rebounds while Flenard Whitfield added 18 points and 11 rebounds for Western Michigan (10-13, 4-5).
