James Woodard sinks 80-footer at 1st-half buzzer in Tulsa's OT win
TULSA, Okla. — James Woodard scored 19 points, including a first-half buzzer-beater he heaved three-quarters the length of the court in Tulsa's 70-68 overtime victory vs. Cincinnati on Thursday night.
Shaquille Harrison finished with 11 points and hit the go-ahead free throw in overtime as Tulsa rallied for the two-point win.
Tied at 64, Cincinnati's Jacob Evans made a steal and was fouled, but split the pair of free throws and Tulsa pulled ahead 66-65 on Rashad Smith's jumper with a minute left.
Harrison hit two free throws for a 68-65 lead, but Troy Caupain countered with a pair to pull Cincinnati within 68-67. Caupain fouled Pat Birt, who made both free throws for a 70-67 lead and Cincinnati's Shaq Thomas missed a 3 with one second left.
Birt scored 13 and Smith had 12 for the Golden Hurricane (17-9, 9-5 American).
Woodard's first-half heave at the buzzer pulled Tulsa within 32-27 at halftime, and Caupain tied it at 62 at the end of regulation with a layup.
Gary Clark led Cincinnati (19-8, 9-5) with 18.
