Jameel McKay's status uncertain vs. Texas A&M
Jameel McKay, Iowa State's starting center, was not on the floor down the stretch in the Cyclones' 85-72 win over No. 4 Kansas on Monday night.
Following the game, the 6-foot-9 senior discussed the frustration he is having playing on an injured left knee. His status for Saturday's game against No. 5 Texas A&M is uncertain, according to Travis Hines of the Ames Tribune.
“We’ll see,” McKay said. “I can’t give you no (or) yes, that’s for sure.
“It’s just a little irritation. It is what it is. It’s something I’ve got to get over. I’ve got to start thinking about myself personally so I don’t know how much more I’ve got in me. It’s a struggle right now. My knee ain’t right.”
McKay played 27 minutes, scoring six points, grabbing five rebounds and blocking one shot. He is averaging 12.9 points and is third in the Big 12 in rebounding at 9.1 boards per game.
The Cyclones host the Aggies on Saturday afternoon in the Big 12/SEC Challenge. Texas A&M, undefeated in SEC play, is top-50 in the country in offensive rebounding percentage, according to KenPom.com.
