Hoyas, Terps to resume men's hoops rivalry next 2 seasons

WASHINGTON (AP) Resuming a rivalry that dates to 1935, Georgetown and Maryland will play each other in men's basketball each of the next two seasons.

The teams, which both finished ranked in the Top 25, will play at Maryland on Nov. 17 as part of the Gavitt Tipoff Games, and at Georgetown's main home floor, the Verizon Center in Washington, the following season.

Hoyas coach John Thompson III said Wednesday: ''We don't need to talk about all of the ghosts of the past. ... It's a series we both wanted to get started back up again.''

The teams have played 63 times, with Maryland holding a 36-27 edge, but they haven't played since the 2008-09 season.
